Abelson had some great lines today:

Merrill Lynch, which is always bullish, has nobly sought to lighten the fear of layoffs that has gripped Wall Street and Main Street both. It did so by showing it really cares for the financial well-being of some of its most valued employees -- its vast corps of securities analysts -- instructing them not to buy any of the stocks they're recommending.

We're sure -- and here's the good news -- the firm will soon demonstrate a similar solicitude for its customers by suggesting they do the same.
