I really don't get economic theory, so I never understood why the fed thinks recessions are GOOD and must be engineered. Apparently they also think it's a good way to avoid depressions. Why can't economic cycles be allowed to wax & wane on their own; its speculation (which is human nature) that needs to be kept in check. You know what this reminds me of? What happened last year in New Mexico at Los Alamos. They started a controlled burn there 5 hours after a wind advisory. And ended up with 40,000 acres burning & fires within 50 feet of plutonium bunkers. And probably contributed to if not triggered the other rash of fires in the southwest. They made things worse than if nature had led by itself to a forest fire.

Anyway...its now a year later. So, forests recover & so do economies, from stupid human intervention! :-)
