'Gold is for Aztecs' - me matatu te titiro ki te ahuatanga, apiti - you're saying that like it's a bad thing, and you never know when an azteca might show up -g- ... the blood of the mexica runs still in the people of La Raza, and the language has been enjoying a resurgence in recent years ... quite an advanced language, btw, as demonstrated in the manner that many works in spanish needed to be refined in translation - coh.arizona.edu
One of the most glaring barbarities the mexica noticed among their pakeha du jour in those days was the way they did not seem to appreciate the aesthetic qualities of gold and silver, but rather melted down the works of art, the symbols of all that was culture, and used the metal as money in a cold, impersonal, impassionate way ... though they were always quite passionate about getting more of it ... so i think your association of gold with nationalistic generalisation would get you more of your desired negative connotation using 'Sixteenth Century Spanish' rather than 'Aztecs'.
This PayPal thing - well, in addition to the complications raised by CB, it uses an ephemeral construct as its medium, a thing made by fiat, dependent on the whims of its managers ..... here's an alternative, with at least as much potential for efficient use, and backed by something real - goldcurrencies.ca
But i like your pukapuka, Maurice, and not just because they're from Godzone, one of the finest corners of the planet [as for being screwed up, well they all are, in some way] ... this does not mean you'll sell me any qcom though -g- ... cheers
