Doesn't take much for a conspiracy like that to get off the ground. A few well placed agents of change is all it takes to get the ball rolling. One of Lenin's contemporaries, Antonio Gramsci, thought Lenin was wrong when he urged the proletariat to rise up and take it to the streets. Gramsci urged a "long march through Western institutions," and predicted that by the end of the century the takeover would be complete.

We can also include the Fabian Socialists with their "patient gradualism."
