OT re High Speed Internet.

Daryll,

Until I got my ADSL connection, I too thought that my dialup connection was "just fine". I didn't get it initially because I wasn't sure that my 3 year old PC (64MB, 200Mhz) was adequate.

The internet is so much more pleasant with ADSL than with dial up. "Always on" is a superb feature. Instantaneous response is very nice. I used to hit ENTER, then watch CNBC for a few seconds, then look back at my monitor. With ADSL, I just do my thing. What used to take 5 hours or more daily, I can now do in under 2.

And listening to webcasts with ADSL is a treat. Audio quality is as good as dialling into the call. Some of them simulcast a video feed (presentations / speakers), a feature not available when dialling into the call.

And I don't need a second line to be able to make / receive voice calls while on the net - definitely a nice feature when making option trades while talking to a broker.

So dial up is just fine as long as you haven't become accustomed to something better. And high speed internet is much, much better.

Ian
