Adam chooses learning, wisdom, knowledge over innocence and goodness? C'mon, Rarebird. Wisdom, Knowledge, Learning CAN AND MUST BE also obtainable by not always choosing the "FORBIDDEN"...
I know innocent and good people who are wise beyond their years, extremely learned, and fountains of knowledge!

All forms of Knowledge, All forms of Wisdom, all forms of Learning does not have to come the proverbial "hard way" my friend. Some of the wisest people I know are observers and not perpetrators of "forbidden" actions.

I submit to you that one of the PRIMARY principles promulgated by the Adamo story in Eden is that lesson of CONSEQUENCES ALWAYS FOLLOWS certain actions.

In that case, one person, Adamo, made a choice to which certain consequences were attached. He did not get to choose his consequences as the result of his disobedience. That is the lesson, my philospher friend and esteemed professor emeritus.

In application to the subject of gold, Bill has chosen to rail against, moralize about, increase emotional pitch about the subject of gold's pricing observation as it operates. He IS reaping the consequences, personally, financially, morally, emotionally as the result of his choice. Whether or not Murph [to use your words] "learns, becomes wiser and gains knowledge" that helps him on this earth plane, quite frankly is yet to be "observed."

Instead, what I'm observing is
the POG doing whatever it is doing,
....for whatever reason it is being priced there
....by participation of both buyers and suppliers of the metal
and all the railing and coniving and elocution basically washing up against the bulwark fo the POG current price and accomplishing nothing "of consequence." That, I submit, Rarebird IS the consequence attached to the improper action being applied to the wrong target.

Watching Murph as a modern day "adamo" if you please, may result in his "expulsion from the garden" but whether or not learning, wisdom and knowledge is gained regarding the function form and reasons for the POG being where it currently is, as the result of his individual choice of actions, is in my opinion stili very much up for debate.

The reason why I question that learning and knowledge and wisdom only come by doing what one is told 'not to do' in the Adamo story as I hear you postulate is this: it is my personal experience that I have learned much, gained much wisdom, and knowledge, not only by doing what is WAS told to do by those with greater learning, knowledge and wisdom, but also by seeking answers to questions along the way to trodding the suggested and/or obvious even to my analysis of events path before me.

While painful consequences can be a powerful teacher allright, of that I share your conviction,
as I myself have matured,
I have found myself learning more,
.... much more quickly
by NOT chosing the forbidden and learning the 'hard way' what consequences are attached,
by observing that said consequences of pursuing non-recommended or even outright forbidden actions
have turned out to be mostly time delaying obstacles to timely accomplishments of certain goals,
and thus accomplishing my "GOLD" goals regardless of pricing concerns for purposes of this discussion.

SO, as much as Adamo was a "young person" in the concept of time back at the beginnings of Human Existance,
this older, wiser, more knowledgeable "Adamette" in her 50s,
now volitionally chooses the quicker route to knowledge, wisdom, and increased learning.

Perhaps as life's string also gets shorter, the desire to learn, get wiser and obtain knowledge becomes more direct??? And in the subject of gold, I have certainly accumulated more and learned of its myriad uses, applications, and opportunities for money by working with the "recommended price du jour," than I EVER garnered and gathered while railing against its current price level.

And another "funny observation is this"...when the price of gold was higher, it was less accumulated and more easily sold by this speaker than it is at this "moralistically disdained" pricing level. The percentage of profit has increased dramatically at my $20 per troy oz cost, and yes, that percentage obviously fluctuates with whatever the POG du jour happens to be. But if the two goals weres accumulation primarily and profitization secondary, I now have much more than I did at the $800 per oz level, and I don't have to "pursue the forbidden" which in this case would be theft, nor get worked up about the POG.

And knowledge, learning, and wisdom did not come into MY life through pursuit of the strictly forbidden as you seemed ot imply was the only lesson of the Adamo/Eden story.

I await your thoughtful respons.
