well...

It started here...

Subject 51496

but after that... I lost track as to how I got there...

Then, I found the author's website, here:

bitterfilms.com (Don Hertzfeldt)

It appears, he has won several prizes for his work... there is another cartoon, Billy's Balloon" but I can not find a clip of it.

More on: "Ah L'Amour"

<snip>

Initially, the film saw slightly limited action on the film festival front as Don was (and occasionally still is) really really embarassed by it. He was also afraid of being pelted with rocks by angry women until he realized that they were cheering louder than the men were during the screenings.

A few of the evil women in the film are rough caricatures of some of Don's actual ex-girlfriends - drawn not so much out of bitterness but from the fact that he was running out of different hair styles to draw.
No one could tell that Don drew caricatures because you can barely tell that Don drew people.

Luckily, the incredibly scrappy look of the film plays hand in hand with its frustrated stream-of-consciousness energy, and it appears as if it was made poorly on purpose. Don usually stays reeeaaally quiet whenever this is brought up.

ROFL !
