I hear ya. My generation has no allusions about SS, the majority opinion seems to be that we don't think we'll get a dime anyway. I say I like Friedman's suggestion. It's been a while since I read him on the subject but it went something like this: current beneficiaries keep getting payments, those over a certain age who have paid in but don't recieve benefits yet get gov't bonds for the amount paid in, and the rest (my gen or the next would be the case) pay for the current beneficiaries but will get none - the system will die off with the bond holders.

That is how it worked off the top of my head. Now, some might feel like they are getting the shaft by paying in but will not recieve benefits. Fair enough, but I say let's pay up so our children won't have to, and the nation will be free of a dangerous fiscal burden.
