Thomas, I have to agree with your general comment. There is a healthy dose of faith involved in every religion, but there is also an empirical science at work as much today as ever, the "science of everyday life."(Didn't someone write a book with that title?) Religion in its purest form permeates and influences all acts, personal and interpersonal. While certain functions of science are distinctly and purposefully separate from religious practice, the presumption of a complete division is false.(The Heisenberg Principle?) Then, of course, there is prayer. Since we don't fully know the effect of prayer, we can never know how much disease has been cured or prevented by prayer. But don't get me wrong. I'm no Christian Scientist.
