you may be right, eventually, but I pose another thought. Why spinoff a chip maker now when the stock prices of semis are so depressed and most folks figure they will recover in the not-to-distant future. Isn't it better, perhaps, to obtain a one-year extension from the IRS or just wait until the spinoff company is worth double what it would be today and get another IRS opinion when needed?
