"I don't expect W to actually weigh the evidence and look out for the good of humanity or anything, but sometimes things work out for the best, regardless." Either you stand on principle or you don't. He seems to be afraid to take a stand that would give the appearance of an association or agreement with religious leaders. That is as bad as taking a stand with them regardless of the merits of the issue. As you are fond of saying, "Its all just politics."
