Jim, did you have any views on the vod article? Unlike other vod discussions we've had here and over in lmt in the past, which were confined to cable system architectures and offerings, this one was uniquely aimed at streaming video over the public 'Net (or walled subdivisions, thereof).

There is evidence that the writing was loose in parts (the 5 or 6 major US Carriers are capable of supporting up to only 500 Gb/s? ... off by a couple of miles), and the author omitted mention of some potentially mitigating factors, such as replication and multicasting capabilities, which would have the effect of cutting down on the total number of streams.

It's also not clear to me where the article was going with regard to an overarching service architecture, although they did include the CDN buzz and caching chat ... but from an SP business-centric focus it left me a bit empty.

Come back..
