Hi Jay,

I understand your premise, but (beyond a certain point) I don't think it's realistic. Yes, I think the Japanese would vote for whomever promised a way out of their economic morass. The money may flow back to Japan, and things may give the false impression of improvement, at least for a while anyway, but ultimately, the Japanese society, being true non-consumers or mid-consumers (if I am free to invent a new term to describe them), cannot stay economically viable solely on their domestic discretionary spending. They, like all global economies, need to have balanced trade with the rest of the world. Failure to do so would ultimately result in a lower standard of living for their society, and I think that's probably unacceptable. (But, not being Japanese myself, I don't know for sure!)
