Everybody who makes a mess should have to clean it up. That said, the environmentalists mobilizing consumers are exploiting vast consumer ignorance about where their hamburgers, cars, gas, houses, electricity, etc. really comes from and the vast amount of effort it takes to make them.
It takes no effort to take a patty out of the freezer and put it on the grill. The trail leading up to that patty in the freezer is largely unknown and ignored by the great exploited consumer.
It is a long, difficult, unpleasant, expensive, and vital trail of events. Somebody has to do it, or you get no Big Mac.
That's why McDonald's has a rainforest policy. McDonald's knows the kids saw "Ferngully, the Last Rainforest," and are suitably brainwashed to think their rainforest policy really makes a difference and won't feel guilty while eating their Big Macs. Most left wingers are similarly educated. |
