the real solution is to abolish the fed. why do we even have a fed? we got along just fine without one before 1913

My understanding is that isn't completely true. Although we (me included) like to bash the politicians and especially the bankers, there was a persistent problem of banks failing prior to 1913. Although there are many conceptual problems with the formation of the Fed.. money supply and political manipulation... the Fed has stopped the "run on the bank".

So a central bank is needed, maybe it could be organized and funded a little differently.
