Well, you may not have heard the story that has made me bitter about the hierarchy of Rome. My blood Father, and Mother, divorced when I was 15 months old because he was having an affair. The woman he was having the affair with, was a Catholic, and after they married, a series of Priests came around to visit my Mother, and Grandmother, trying to get my Mother to sign a paper that would legally annul the marriage, which would have caused me to be declared a bastard by the Catholic Church. They resisted but the pressure was continued for several years. When I was about 40, I got a letter from my sire, who had not seen fit to try to contact me for 30 years, begging me to intervene on his behalf so he could be buried in Holy ground, and could go to Heaven. At that point in time, I didn't give a damn what the Catholic church wanted to call me, and convinced my Mother to sign the papers. It is that kind of mind washed, control, that angers me about the higher ups in the Catholic church. I have known a number of Priests, and Nuns, who seemed to ge genuinely nice, and devout people, but IMO any one that gets to be a Bishop and above in the hierarchy, is nothing but a back biting politician, whose only ambition is to get to be Pope, wear a dress, and have a bunch of people bow to him, and kiss his ring. The Pope is nothing more, and never will be, anything but a normal human being with no more powers, in the eyes of God, than the lowliest of us all.
As you can see, I get a bit testy when the subject comes up.
