In this a.m.'s Senate Banking Committee meeting, Greenspan finally being taken to the woodshed on failure to cut rates earlier. A Republican senator from (I believe) Kentucky nailed him about his failure to respond swiftly to signals that economy was contracting. Greenspan said he didn't get these signals till end of Nov, and acted in Dec. The senator responded: "I was getting word from my business friends as early as September, 2000 that their orders were falling through the floor". No response from AG, as they quickly shifted to another questioner.
