Yes, this "just happened". Same as when Clinton was in office, the increases "just happened". It is interesting to me that you want to give credit to Clinton for his "great economy" but when we have good economic developments under Bush, you criticize him for it.

You call a global recession good economic news. No wonder a Rep. administration usually results in a recession.

The fact is that OPEC sees US drilling as a threat to their immediate profits and responded accordingly. This is what happens when you have someone in office that doesn't just talk the talk, but walks the walk. And OPEC knows it.

Do you not read the newspapers at all? The fact is that oil demand has plummeted because the world economy is weakening [see above]. So far dubya and his policies have proven to be totally ineffectual. That's why his ratings continue to drop. He is clueless just like his minions.
