Haven't heard much discussion on what phase of the bear we're in lately. Heinz B. presents the case for phase 2:

I forget where I stood last. I was torn between phase 2 and 3, if I recall. Then I decided it had to be early phase 3, then I changed my mind back to late phase 2. I dunno-

We could make a case for us being in mid-phase 2 at present-the end of phase 1 coming at the spring lows.

We could also make the case for phase 3 currently, with phase 1 ending in fall of 2000, and phase 2 ending this spring.

Sentiment (the majority still being bullish) suggests that phase 2 is the correct one, The majority should be bearish during phase 3..
