Neither did Clinton. Also Gore would not have represented a majority had he won the presidency.

especially when you consider what went on with the election in Fl.

What went on in FL was atleast as distorted in Gore's favor as it was in Bush's. A lot of the ambigious votes were decided by Democratic local election officals. Yes there would be atleast one Republican present but his or her objections would not have stopped the vote from counting.
