New Tantalum Chip Capacitor, Surface Mount Wirewound Resistor, And Optocouplers from Vishay Feature Industry-Leading Specifications
biz.yahoo.com
MALVERN, Pa., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), has announced the release of a new tantalum chip capacitor and surface mount wirewound resistor with industry-leading specifications, as well as new optocouplers with one of the industry's thinnest packages for their device type.

The new Vishay Sprague 292D molded leadless chip capacitor, built on Vishay's proprietary Tantamount® technology, features the industry's lowest equivalent series resistance (ESR) rating for its compact size. Each 292D capacitor provides an ESR rating that is between 20% to 40% lower than any equivalent device on the market, with ESR values ranging from 3.5 ohms to 5.0 ohms at 100 kHz. Voltage rating options are 4 WVDC, 6.3 WVDC, and 10 WDVC, with capacitance levels ranging from 3.3 microfarads to 33 microfarads. Capacitance tolerance options of plus/minus 10% or plus/minus 20% are available. The 292D capacitor is optimized for dc-to-dc power conversion and noise filtering applications in high-end portable systems, handheld electronic products, and hearing aids.

The new Vishay Dale WSC6927 molded surface mount wirewound resistor provides the industry's highest derating temperature. The WSC6927 offers a 3 W power rating at 70 degrees C, and derates linearly to 275 degrees C. It extends the derating temperature by as much as 77% compared to competing devices currently on the market, which results in higher-power operation at elevated temperatures. The new resistor provides a resistance range of 0.1 ohms to 2.6 kilohms, and features tolerance options of plus/minus 0.5%, plus/minus 1%, and plus/minus 5%, making it ideal for use as a power supply bleeder resistor or series dropping resistor in pulsing applications and voltage divider circuits. These applications are commonly found in automobile electronic controls, satellite receivers, instrumentation, home entertainment products, and fixed telecommunications systems.

The two new series of Vishay Telefunken surface mount optocouplers provide reinforced isolation in a 2-mm high package -- one of the industry's thinnest for this device type. The new Miniflat devices consist of a phototransistor optically coupled to a gallium arsenide infrared-emitting diode. The standard 4-pin TCLT10xx series and industry-first, 5-pin base-connected TCLT11xx series optocouplers ensure maximum safety and reliability by providing a stable distance between the emitter and detector chips. They are optimized for miniaturized products such as PC cards (PCMCIA), set-top boxes, fax machines, modems, digital TV, switchmode power supplies, line receivers, computer peripheral interfaces, microprocessor system interfaces and other systems requiring a high level of package integration.
