Tim: I understand most games run faster on Win98 and some will not even run on Win2k. Well, Win2k is a lot better in this area than NT, since Win2k actually supports DirectX past version 3 or something (which was the latest version supported by NT). XP should make these things even better, but the big problem will be with device drivers. Most people have hardware in their computers that have been discontinued and I would imagine that most manufacturers would be somewhat reluctant to develop new device drivers for old hardware. Even the threat of this will keep many from upgrading. Companies like NVIDIA are so much better off (or, rather, their customers are) since they used fully unified device drivers (e.g. my old GeForce1 card uses the same drivers as the latest GeForce3 card - heck, even an old TNT2 card uses it!). -fyo
