¿Qué onda? .. <== this is slang greeting in México, replaces ¿qué tal? among friends, not really considered proper yet but becoming more so ... literally it means 'what is waving?' but really means 'what is coming in on your personal wave du jour?' ... best translated in english as 'what's new?' ..... but it seems to me a recognition embedded right there in the language that everything moves in waves, in cycles ... of course the classical use of the term 'cyclical stocks' has a specific and more restricted meaning that wouldn't apply to lor.to, but having watched it on and off for years i'd say it moves in wave cycles, for sure ... good point about insipid response to news, though - the sellers are evenly matching the buyers so far, even a day later ... one time a couple of years ago lor had a really irrational spike up on very similar news, early-stage stuff ... shows the difference in market sentiment levels, which are again manifestations of a wave cycle, perhaps the one most directly of import to us.
I do think that the great majority of shareholders have longer term views than those expressed on the 'traders' threads of SI, and for the most part i fall in that class [not entirely by accident, my choice of verb in that last phrase, lol] ... and really, it's called Silicon Investor, not Silicon Daytrader ... if i had a longterm interest in lor.to [and i sort of do, though phnpi at the moment, just interested], i think i'd seriously consider adding shares at this level, or getting back in, or whatever ... only after a thorough purview of the fundamentals, of course
Lenny, loose is what your pants are just before you lose them -g- ... ah, the threads of TLC ... he's actually quite a trader in real life, you know ... likes to goof around, but there's often a point to it worth noting ... there are some classic posts by him on trading attitudes way back on some thread, maybe 'Last Frontier' or the thread that preceded it ... i've looked and couldn't find them ... maybe one day i'll saunter over to 'Folks Who Pick Up Flaming Dog Waste' and ask him. |
