I understand it completely, I know what saturation is, I understand and agree that some portions of the population should be presumed to use multiple accounts [a portion which, by the way, EMC does not define so it appears that it cannot be questioned on its methodology] but I nevertheless think assuming cellular accounts for five year olds who are unable to properly wipe their own bottom much less operate a cell phone is nuts, and I therefore question EMC's motives. I don't care how you slice it, dice it or spin it, using five year olds who can hardly dial a phone is absolutely positively not conservative.
Why not the dog, the cat and.....the Scottish chimp who's depressed because his Nokey-Pokey cell phone has been confiscated?
* All members of population are assumed to have at least one cellular subscription from the age of five upwards. On the basis that a cellular subscription is voice-centric, the ability to talk is seen as key to a subscription. This assumption does not however exclude the understanding that a cellular subscription may be wholly data centric.
* Members of the population falling into the economically active population, defined as 15-64 years, are assumed to have the potential for more than one subscription - typically one for personal and one for business usage.

What's your guess on:
* whether or not CY guidance on handsets will be taken down. Beats me. Things are crazy. If I were to venture a wild guess, I would say no downward guidance but no stellar future guidance, either.
* whether or not 1xRTT ASIC forecast for the FY stays at 6M. Don't know. Haven't followed it with the excruciating care you do. |
