P4 for RDRAM/850 chipset is CPU with 423 pins
P4 for SDRAM/845 chipset is CPU with 478 pins

New motherboard, CPU socket and chipset. Intel must have determined that AMD was most vunerable to P4 at cheap prices right now when demand is currently non-existant for any corporate PC's and before back to school, end of year and just maybe if we are lucky some renewed interest for capital expenditures for businesses.

To give you an idea of how slow PC markeplace is I arranged a deal for non-profit radio station for two Compaq Evo 6000 XEON 1.7 GHz workstations at over 30% off Compaq web site price. Where the starting price was over $5,000 and ended up at about $3,600. This top of line for Intel processors currently.
