Hynix Semiconductor Considers Additional Cut in Production
July 24, 2001 (SEOUL) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc. which recently announced its plan to shut down production in its U.S. plants, said it is considering additional production cuts.

In a conference with local institutional investors, Hynix said that additional cuts might be implemented depending on market conditions, but that it will not be a huge cut in production.

Regarding the cut in 64Mb DRAM production, Hynix said it will bring down the company's overall production of the chip product by 15 percent.

"We have to reimburse interests of some 900 billion won by the end of the year, but this won't be much of a problem," stated Park Jong-sup, head of Hynix Semiconductor, adding, "We have sufficient liquidity as we plan to cut facilities investments by 600-800 billion won during the latter half of the year."
