Nadine... leaving is different than "deploying". To leave port is prudent force protection because a ship can't maneuver when docked and it's harder to attack. But to leave the entire region would be cowardice and that did not occur in the Navy's case and I don't believe that's what happened in this event.

However, the Marines did cancel an excercize and the troops were redeployed elsewhere (crete or cyprus?). That might hurt... But it undermines Jordan's credibility even more if they are unable to ensure the safety of their "guests" (which is quite embarrassing to an Arab).

And yes.. I read it.. And I agree with much of what they state, but I don't agree with leaving troops in a hostile situation when the mission is not compelling enough for them to be there.
