Regarding mini disk drives, even if battery capacity improves, I doubt that there will ultimately be much price differential between disk drives and flash memory. The reason is simple: Anything with moving parts will probably ultimately cost more than a solid state part. And an improved battery also has an added cost. Bottom line: It looks like flash memory will become the technology of choice over anything with moving parts. Main risk: Somebody invents a new type of non-volatile storage device with no moving parts and lower cost.
