I agree with that. And with your list of statements that are being made by certain practices. We also make statements when we blindly adhere to a technical definition of life, humanness, and personhood that has no qualitative component. This leads us to unnecessary and horrible suffering at end of life against the wishes of the owner of that life or for the tiny creatures in whose alleged interests we prolong suffering in the face of no promise.

Life is a continuum that includes pre-life and death. The ethical question must include the matter of whether being technically alive trumps everything. I'd say it doesn't and that we respect life and our humanity more by acknowledging that and by differentiating various degrees of life status.
