happy g, just an aside. my friend made his half million in a different year than he lost it. the tax consequences are ominous. he paid full taxes on the gains already. he gets to deduct the losses to the tune of net investment gains + $3k. he probably will not live long enough to get his full deduction for his losses. something to ponder. he does, all the time. gaining and losing equal amounts often has terrible tax implications.
