then the rest of the world has much to fear from us.

Excuse me? Have you the faintest clue about the world order the US has established since WWII??

Have you not heard of the UN, Bretton Woods, NATO, SEATO??

Have you forgotten how the US coerced its WWII allies to decolonize in exchange for US protection??

Have you been ignorant of the fact that the world has spent the past 40 years, with a 30 minute notice on total nuclear destruction?

Was it not the US which had SOLE possession of nuclear weaponry after WWII, yet did not "threaten" anyone except to counter the oppression of the worker's paradise over in the USSR?

The US has been a lot of things since we were thrust upon the world stage as a superpower. There was every opportunity available for America to "oppress" allies and opponents alike. But we chose not to do so.

And I don't expect us to do so in the future.

The only thing the world has to fear is free and fair trade, or face being cut off from the largest marketplace on the globe. Ask the Europeans who thought the European economy would be immune from a US slowdown. The US has been carrying the rest of the world, economically, militarily, and often politically, for far too long because we needed them as allies against the USSR. But now we can act unilaterally to a much greater extent.

And if you're worried about "god's will", you have only to look toward the middle east.
