The man was on parole. One of the conditions of parole is that you allow your parole officer to inspect your house. If he found that unacceptable he could have chosen to finish his sentence in jail.

Maybe, just maybe that justifies the search.

If the man had been convicted of bank robbery, and his parole officer found a notebook filled with plans for robbing a bank, would you agree it was justifiable to lock him back up?

It does not justify locking some one up for writing fantasies in his personal journal.
