I can't believe I read this whole freakin post, but I'll put it up there with the time a friend of mine stopped me and told me that the way I was tying my shoes, which I learned when I was four, was the wrong way and that was why they never stayed tied. He showed me the difference between a bow made with a "granny knot" as opposed to a bow made with a square knot. The granny knot, the way I learned, doesn't stay tied, but a square knot stays tied all day, no more double tying sneakers. So I was 25 the day I really learned to tie my shoes. I think it's a record and it's a testament to the human's ability to learn new things if they just keep an open mind.
