Re: Consumers and XP

You won't upgrade to XP. But when you buy your next PC it will be XP-based. And XP will likely encourage you to buy that new PC sooner rather than later. The primary reason will be XP's vastly improved stability compared to previous versions of Windows. With XP system crashes and reboots will become a thing of the past and that alone will be sufficient reason for most folks. The rest of the features are just icing on the cake.

You can expect MSFT's critics to be very vocal in expressing doubt about XP's stability and its appeal to the average consumer. You can also be sure of deafening silence from these same critics on this subject once XP actually ships and performs as advertised.
