I lived in Orange County for 35 years. Nothing that has happened or is happening there was or is terribly unique. The effects of urbanization are well documented. The rise and decline of the first suburbs is not a new sociological phenomenon. The changing demographics of the county are not unprecedented in American (or California) history.

Many people don't like change, but it is as inevitable as death.
