Does anyone here know how much competition Vans faces from Airwalk and other imitators? I went to the local mall (Westminster, Colorado) last night to get a pair of Vans for my wife for our anniversary and to do a little fundamental research on Vans (who was carrying them, how many styles did they carry, what prices were they charging, did they carry Airwalk and other competitors. Mervyn's was the only store which carried only Vans and they had about 5 different styles, all suede (and all $55/pair). A skate/snowboarding shop carried a few Vans, more Airwalks, and some other competitors. Their Vans prices rangeds from $45 (for 1 model) to $65 (most of the other models). Some trendy shoe stores had only Airwalk. Kinney's had a few pairs of Vans on their sale table, and lots of Airwalks on the walls. I bought a pair at Mervyn's.

I am quite happy with my VANS stock right now! I could buy 5 pairs of Vans with the profits I've made in the past week.

Good luck to all,

Kirk

P.S. My wife just called me and admitted she was going to surprise me with a pair of Vans for our anniversary. Life is ironic, and great!
