really k, JDSU's write-off is bad but not fraud nor as bad as it seems. and, if you know better, you should stop trying to scare people. jdsu paid top dollar for its major acquisitions (sdli etc.) but it paid with its own stock valued at top dollar. apples for apples.. it is now adjusting the value of the assets it bought in recognition of today's market. so it's writing off the difference (good will). paper for paper. i didn't listen to the call nor go over JDSU books but that's the basic concept. i doubt if there was very much, if any, cash impairment in that write off. now, the losses from operations will definitely affect the balance sheet more directly... even a dumb oregon fishing guide can follow that..
