Using AMD results in unreliable systems. It is very expensive for an OEM to service a system in the field. The one big requirement of Dell is that they want to "ship and forget", failures kill the profits. It also makes for happy customers.

Of course when you just throw out some flaky parts for the overclockers to play with, reliability is not a problem.
