I didn't respond to your statement about people being wealthier in the 60s because that is less clear (but still I would say you are wrong) but now you are claiming that people where wealthier in 1900? Thats nonsense.

We have bigger houses, much more common ownership of stocks and bonds, personal travel throughout the world easily available to the middle class, most people own cars, color TV, VCRs, and washing machines. We can buy more food, clothing, books, guns, furniture and travel with the average in come today (I was looking for some things that people from both times buy.

Also One dollar in 1900 is more like $20 or $30 then $66.67.
