Re:"A statement just as well founded as your blithering that AMD pumped units into their channel partners."

There 2 sources for AMD stuffing the channel. First, Jerry's mouth at the CC: "50% of the processor sales were in the last month".

A Salomen Smith Barney research report published on July 6 and posted earlier on SI:

"About two weeks ago we cut estimates on AMD because we believed the company was facing strong competitive pressures from Intel (INTC-$30, 1M). At that time, we reduced our Q2 processor unit estimate from 7.1 million units to 6.5 million units. As we have noted in recent issues of The Semiconductor Beat, AMD processor prices have declined about 20% in the month of June alone. Furthermore, we have been hearing that the company pulled in at least one record order just before the quarter close to help make its quarter. Quarter end deals almost always are negotiated at a substantial discount. While these sharp price cuts have
definitely boosted processor volumes, it appears that this has come at the cost of significantly lowered gross margins."
