ROFL
It is hardly pointless if we realize we all have racist tendencies. Realization is the first step toward progress (imo- assuming one wants progress). Acting on the racist impulses we all have is (imo only of course) a negative thing and reinforces ways of thinking about race and race relations that I think are destructive to a racially diverse society. And I feel the word "Bigot" is especially apposite for people who think racial differences cause the negative traits they see in others and who are intolerant of these perceived "racial" differences. But that's me. I think perhaps you are as confused as I am. I'm not sure what you want the word to mean. Racist in the dictionary can simply mean believing that traits are caused by race, and that certain races are superior (less criminal, more hardworking, etc). You can be racist in many ways. The stereotyping of Asians, for example, as perfect students is an example of racism.

1.The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2.Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
