Agreed, on the government usage or meteor burst; that was behind my reference of relegation to "spies and footnotes." The angle I was addressing was commercial exploitation of non-mainstream telecom opportunities. The beauty [!] of meteors vs. the moon is that meteors don't go into shadow below the ground you are standing on. I agree the future will be satellites, and as you point out, perhaps some already flying that are presently underutilized because they require a bit more complexity in the earth station equipment (mechanical tracking) than a perfectly station-kept geostationary bird needs.
