West, two things, first I agree with you. In lieu of suing the tobacco companies, we should be suing the fast food restaurants, fo fattening America up (death due to obesity is more than 10 times prevalent than from smoking), the soft drinks companies for causing epidemic occurrence of osteo-porosis, and the drug industry for advertising their ware and causing excessive use of harsh drugs. I am now told that this wonder drug, Lipitor, to reduce cholesterol, also reduces Enzyme Q-10, which protects us from heart diseases. Frankly, a correct diet with plenty of antioxidants will protect you from heart ailments as well as cancer, more than the modern medicine man. In the US 100,000 death a year are case by physician errors, "only" 50,000 death are to lung cancer (and a million to heart diseases, directly correlated with obesity).
Having ranted, I would suggest that finding the one out of 10 biotech companies that will survive, will put you in a company with an assured future. Timing the buying, well, that is for another "rant" (g).

PS, in the last 15 years, I believe I saw a physician trice, once for insurance purposes and twice to appease my dear wife with a quintannual check up. (g) In the fifteen years prior to that, I don't remember having any annual check up not related with work or insurance. Gee, not seeing a physician must keep me healthy (g), and out of that scary statistic of 100,000 accidental health from physician errors. |
