Hi Web Myst; Re your list of possibilities. Every now and then I answer these questions but it's really pointless. The human mind is able to find reasons to believe anything, and if someone wants to believe I'm paid by "TeamDDR", which is solidly short RMBS in collusion between the memory makers and the trade press, there is nothing I can say that will stop them, LOL!!!
But here goes: (1) I am not short RMBS, nor do I have any position in RMBS, it's options or warrants, or in the stock, options or warrants of any of the memory makers. If you ask me, MU is too high priced, for that matter.
(2) I've never worked for RMBS in any capacity. I've never met anyone who worked there, as far as I know. I've never worked for a memory maker, nor visited any of their plants. I've met people who worked for memory makers, cause when I'm designing something, they want to convince me to use their memory types. Most of my interaction with them is that they give me data books. Every now and then, they tell me what they have underdevelopment.
(3) I've never worked at a brokerage or for a fund manager or traded stocks except for my own account. I have no connection to the sell side or buy side of the stock market, or to the fund managers or hedge fund managers or anything like that. Do you really think those guys know cr@p about memory? They're clueless. The only reason I know memory is because I design DRAM into products intended for high volume.
(4) I design memory into products for companies. They pay me to be good at what I do. One of the parts of "good" is that I pick parts that will make the product cheap and reliable. In order to get cheap, I have to be able to predict what type of parts will cost (at least relative to other options) in the future. For that reason, I read the stuff that industry puts out (and I've been doing this for many many years) and figure out what is the truth and what is the exaggeration. You guys who don't know, (for instance) how to create an initialization sequence that will properly bring up SDRAM from all the major manufacturers, have no skill at recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of the different memory types. I'm an expert, this is my area. You can come out here and play if you like, but things are not always as they appear.
Let me put it this way: Intel's management got fooled into going with Rambus. Then they said it was a mistake. Do you know more about memory than Intel's management? Not convinced? How's about this: VIA's management totally rejected RDRAM. They said it was too costly. Are you smarter than VIA's management? Are you really in a position to make a judgement of which of those two companies made a mistake? If you Intel's management didn't make a mistake with RDRAM, can you explain why VIA took all that chipset business away from them?
(5) Yeah, I love to debate. But my reason for picking on RMBS is that more than just loving to debate, I love to be right. Rambus allows me to be right, and the reason is that I know things about the memory industry that the people investing in this stock have no clue about.
(6) No, I'm not a philanthropist. Someone is going to get burned on this stock as it goes down, and frankly, so long as it's not my money, and it's not money owned by someone I know, I don't give a dang. I'd prefer that the people who call me a paid liar keep their shares. I love the fact that Stuart is still long this stock. Richard surckla cheers me up every time he admits that he's still in. Same with jim kelley, etc.
If I wanted to save mom and pop from themselves I'd pretend to be a long who had found some interesting information, and was having second thoughts. I'd post on Yahoo or Motley fool, and use a lot of confusing identities. I could do this if I wanted to, but I don't. Instead, I come right straight out and tell you about this stock. That convinces very few people indeed.
Everyone wants to believe that everyone who says something they disagree with is motivated by some reason. People seem to only be able to understand the motivation of other people if they can feel that motivation themselves. And since people who concentrate on stocks tend to be primarily motivated by money, they naturally assume that everybody else is motivated by money too, and that, therefore, the only reason someone would post bad Rambus news is if they were paid, directly or indirectly, to do so.
Okay. Assume I'm a nut case. Buy as much RMBS as you can afford! You guys could be in Cabo by early 2002! But doesn't it bother you just a little bit that I know so much about this stuff?

P.S. I feel like an outsider. I am on a different wavelength then everybody else. I say goodbye and goodnight. I'll be back! I'll be back! (LOL!!!) |
