Magnatizer. Real estate isn't one of my specialties.

Much rather defer to folks here who've more informed opinions about the sector. I think Terry Whitman has given more thought and attention to it than I have. Com'on Terry bail me out on this one.<ggg>

Just 2 general observations.

First, IMHO, real estate prices don't react as quickly as more easily marketable physical assets like precious metals, followed next by other commodities (after the recession has bottomed).

Second, Real Estate prices can be inflating in one geographic region while deflating in another.

Least favored areas are those where local employment is dominated by industries deflating from their last boom, like technology.

Most favored would be areas that have been doing well for a couple of years like big oil and NG producing states.
