CH-
I laughed out loud at your description because you could be describing our family. Our dream is to have a library, the real kind with a ladder-- I've ALWAYS wanted one of those sliding ladders! We have the study, but it doesn't have enough shelves- why would someone build a study with puny shelfspace? Well, I know the answer- when we bought the house, the owner had nothing on the shelves except sports memorabilia-- caps and balls and pictures of ballplayers.

We talk a lot about how we will simplify when we retire, how we'll get rid of all our THINGS. Then we laugh becuase mostly what we have is books, and they aren't going ANYWHERE.

I have yet to start Deliverance. It is sitting on the bedside table, looking accusingly at me. I hope we haven't lost our mo already. I am reading the Oates "Foxfire" one at the moment. I have three going at once- that and one by William F Buckley called Elvis in the Morning, and am just finishing Writing Women's Lives, essays by women writers about their craft, oh make that 4, another light fiction called Swimming Lessons.

Let us know when you return. I am curious to hear what you thought of Texas, and what books you actually got read! And I love the Book Bag quote- must look for that essay!
