podstock, my understanding is window dressing actaully takes place at the end of each month. Just using common sense there are a variety of reportings taking place each month with in the various ares of finance. Everybody wants to look good, push it up a %. It may be more extreme during the end of quarters, halves and years,oh my (Wizard of OZ reference). I have also read the last trading day of the month and the first few of the next month are often up. So this study was specific to the last day, so maybe it waits until the last minute. My recent experience with window dressing in this market has been they start accumulating about 3 trading days prior to the end of the month, and the last day is actaully choopy and mixed, but usually ending up. Throw is summmer doldrums big time this time, and who knows.
