Hi cordob; Re: "Do we know the die size of one relative to the other? That would give a good first indication. I suppose the die size of a DDR is hardly bigger than sdram. The other extra costs is supposedly cost of test equipment. About how much investment are we talking here per chip and is this very long testing (rdram vs sdram)?"

I know these numbers. Obviously you don't. Yeah, I could post you links with them, but why don't you go figure this one out for yourself. Hint: Like with anything associated with Rambus, you should probably ignore what Rambus had to say about this, and instead go collect as many statements from as many memory makers over as long a period as you can.

I mean really! [Expletive deleted.] Why are you posting that RDRAM is going to take over the mainstream when you don't even know basic information like this??? You were posting that AMD was going to announce an RDRAM chipset by the end of the year when you don't even know the most basic, fundamental, obvious facts about the cost of producing RDRAM?

You're a reasonable guy, a f'ing engineer, for God's sake. You have no excuse for not looking this up.

P.S. I'll probably go in and link you some articles later, but I really can't believe you could be so lazy, and yet so sure of yourself.
