Are we in a Recession? Actually we did have a discussion about the fact that we are in somewhat of a recession a couple of weeks ago:

Recession or almost a recession things are bad and getting worse.

That being said I do believe things are nearing bottom. Next quarter's numbers will be worse than this quarter's numbers for most technology companies. What will be good is that more companies should begin reporting a pick up in orders by the end of the quarter. In addition most companies will begin beating analyst estimates by the fourth quarter. The catalysts are as follows:

1.) Interest Rate Cuts
2.) Tax Refunds
3.) Microsoft's Windows XP and the Xbox
4.) Short covering in the face of cash returning from the sidelines.
5.) Revival of the IPO and Capital Investment Markets.
6.) Recovery Expansion as job losses give way to new hiring.

It's that simple really. The economy is horrible but it will not stay that way forever. Although when we actually see this recovery take place this time we now live in will be referred to as having been an actual recession whether it is or not.

All of the above are just my opinions. As always... RtS
