I like to tie orchids in trees.. and grow them soiless.. Spray them once a month with Peters or Miracle grow which I just finished doing.. The ones in the pots on the Potting bench which I made myself.. are from an orchid grower down the street you need to have lava rocks and good drainable potting soil.. Almsot sounds like IO know what I am doing.. Most important key to orchids is to buy ones that are blooming in different months so you will have one blooming all the time... So if you go to a show in March buy one in bloom then one in May etc....
